Flasher at the flash
Today we spent a couple of hours at Pennington Flash in search of the multiple kingfishers that keep being posted on FB.
We waited about an hour without any luck and were just about to leave when one of the 8 photographers that had been there all morning mumbled "he's back!". Sure enough a kingy flew from the back of the pond to the front of the pond briefly pausing on two of the posts. Within less than 10 seconds around 500 shots would have collectively been fired and then he was gone.... I got 4 that were in focus and this is the best of them. To say I was disappointed was an understatement - but at least we saw one!
Of course, we couldn't just leave then now could we? You have to stick around in case it comes back. So we then wasted another 40 minutes seeing nothing more than this heron(in extras) which got into some weird positions whilst preening itself.
Today is our wedding anniversary (27 years) and also my parents' wedding anniversary(55 years) so we have all been out this evening to a very nice French restaurant for our usual celebration meal. It was delicious and now we have had too much to eat, so it won't be long before I drop off I'm sure.
Looking forward to at least another day out blipping birds this weekend, weather permitting. Will get around to commenting at some stage. Thanks for still continuing to sprinkle stars and comments on my journal despite my lack of reciprocation.
