You know the expression 'giving with one hand and taking with the other?' Well, this is the Abernethy version - welcoming you on the way in and then chaining you to the tower for a spot of humiliation .

These jougs are fitted about 5 feet off the ground on the Abernethy tower and would have been used as a form of punishment for various wrong doings. Nowadays we just use them for children who won't eat their greens or people who don't scoop their dog's poop.
