Red admiral

Today I went up to the butterfly reserve.  There were fewer butterflies about, not surprisingly, though I did have a lovely walk along the ridge.

I found this red admiral at the far end, by the entrance to one of the few wooded paths.  Very handsome I know, but the reason he became my blip of the day because he's the first one I've seen all year - well since the one I spotted on New Year's Day looking very confused and fluttering around the bus stop in town.
