Ta-rah!
Bit slow to set off but we zoomed down to Tribeca area and had a great breakfast in a place called Bubby’s....delicious! Over to see Ghostbuster’s fire station house. K very excited but just left me wondering how I managed to miss that movie....loads of people like her were taking photos there and clearly very thrilled!
wandered through the neighbourhood and into Greenwich Village. Lovely ornate buildings and fire escapes hanging off them all, and some gorgeous shops (at outrageous prices!) but I did succumb to a little shirt for Mx with biplanes on it.
Went to the skyscraper museum in Battery Park....picked up a bit of info but not the most interesting or interactive of museums.
Boiling day so when we came out we wandered through the park a little then decided to hop on the Staten Island ferry for the trip there and (straight!) back to get the breeze on the water and enjoy the skyline views again.
After we got back, went into the Smithsonian museum of Native American art and culture. Some amazing exhibits...a mixture of historical and very contemporary...and led us to think and talk about trading, art and identity.
Hopped back on the subway up to meet L for happy hour at a lovely restaurant where we had oysters, lobster knuckles, salads, fries and margaritas, followed by some complimentary chocolate pots and little fortune telling fish!
Wandered over to Delacorte theater in Central Park for Twelfth Night. Fabulous! At the start the huge cast mingled amongst the crowd and the audience could walk around on the stage and join in the carnival setting.
Lots of song and dance mixed in with the Shakespeare, fantastic performances by the community and professional cast, and a packed theatre. What an amazing night...loved it!
