Looking through the nets
... towards the Gironde.
Day two of our mini cycle tour took us down to Blaye. It was a delightful cycle down hill to the estuary (see extra #1) and then along quiet roads meandering past inlets and lots of cabanes and carrelets - the fishing huts with their nets, that can been seen all around here. This was at an inlet on an unnamed road and literally in the middle of nowhere about half way through the journey. I particularly liked this view between the huts and nets.
After an overnight stop in the charming town of Blaye with its medieval citadel (extra #2) it's a short ferry crossing to Lamarque on the peninsula tomorrow, then about 40 miles back to base.
