Donkey Rides

There’s something very old fashioned about donkey rides along our English beaches. I rarely see them elsewhere but Blackpool is upholding the tradition.

Tradition is a tricky one. Just because something has been done for decades/centuries it doesn’t mean it’s still okay. Bullfighting is a prime example.

If something is being done by exploiting another, then surely it should be banned? Evolution dictates that we should be outgrowing traditions, doesn’t it?

Maybe if these donkeys are well kept and under no duress, it’s alright. As cute a sight as it may be to see kiddies having a little ride (and to be fair, it’s a very short ride), I’m still undecided.
