Shoop Shoop Diddy Wop

My Dear Fellows & Dear Princess,

About a month after I met Cazza, she invited her best mate Lisa to come and stay at my flat (Cazza had not yet, partially, sorta, maybe moved in at that point).

Lisa brought with her one of those folders of CDs people used to have in the days before MP3's and keeping your music on the effing cloud*. It was at this point that I was exposed to Kiwi/Aussie rock.

I mean. We have all heard of the giants of Southern Hemispherical rock. And here I am referring to INXS, Crowded House, AC/DC and Olivia Newton-John of course. But I had never before heard of The Dance Exponents, Dave Dobbyn or even Barnesey.

The song that sticks out in my head though, is this one. Mainly because Lisa and Cazza leapt right in there and started singing along and doing the dance moves. I thought they were having some sort of fit.

I mention all this because this week I have bought Cazza tickets to see Dragon in concert. Cazza LOVES Dragon. And cannot wait to sing along to this. We will be going to see them in January with Big Nipper and Feefs (and half of Cazza's home town, I expect).

Funnily enough, they are not the headline band. That happens to be a little-known American band named Toto. All together now...

Gonna take a lot to take me away from yooooo....
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever doooo...

BUT. ALSO. AND. Today Lemon told me that Little River Band are playing at a festival in Christchurch next year!

Contain yourselves. I know how you all feel about LRB.

Cazza LOVES Little River Band. I know this because she has SQUISHED them onto all of my playlists! Bloody rude! I'll be happily listening to Blondie and Doris Day and Cher when suddenly...

TIIIIIIIME FOOOOOOR.... A COOOOOOL CHAAAAAANGE...

Cool Change is one of Cazza's favourite-ever songs. Many is the night I come home from work to find her waving her arms about and singing along to it while Punky recoils in horror.

So I have scored 2 tickets to see LRB in March of next year. Cazza is going to SH*T when she hears about it, so I'm not telling her until she is sitting in a chemical toilet at the actual festival. As it turns out, the other big act at the "Selwyn Sounds" festival is LEO SAYER. So I'll tell her that we are there to see HIM, and when I am finished being brutally beaten to death by her, I'll tell her that it's all okay I was lying really.

So DON'T YOU TELL HER. If anyone asks we are going to see Monte Video and the Cassettes, right??

Are you excited? I'm excited!!

You make me feel like daaaaanc-ing...!!

S.

* Amazon effing bloody sodding effing music have managed to "lose" about half of my collection on their effing cloud. Effers. I'm taking it very well as you can see.
