Cnoc and Lochan terrain
Whilst the south of the UK bakes in 30+ temperatures, we are up in the relatively cool and damp northwest, studying the rocks.
The last glaciation scraped the ancient Lewisian baserock flat apart from a number of carved teardrop shaped 'Cnocs' or 'Nunataks'. These are distinctive Torridonian sandstone peaks of moderate height (~2500') - the two shown here are Canisp and Suilven.
