Along the river Jeker
When we lived in Maastricht, we were often cycling through the Jeker valley cause it was flat and still so different from where we came from Groningen city, in the north of the Netherlands. This morning we decided to go there again.
Against the mountain slope, there's the large vineyard of the Apostelhoeve and a little further on, castle Neercanne. Both are still just in the Netherlands, but the river Jeker flows for the most part through Belgium. We cycled upstream to Bassenge on a bicycle path which we did not know existed. We used to cycle only as far as Kanne, but now we cycled all the way to Bassenge. A nice trip, although it was still a bit of a climb to get back home.
