The squirrels are furious!

This tree stump has been full of fine rotten tree dust all Summer and not drawing attention to itself at all, from a human perspective at least. Whether it was rain or a dog or a fox to cause this damage is immaterial, it has obviously upset the squirrels a great deal. This stump is just across the path from the little house with all the cheery plastic flowers in its front garden and a sackful of nuts for the squirrels beside the front door. 

I can't be certain but I think that perhaps quite a few squirrels have been burying nuts in the fine powder here and that this desecration is the rodent equivalent of a bank robbery. They are all blaming each other. Chattering and shouting and chasing one another quite aggressively.
