"hello Cumbria"

We arrive for a sound check at around 10.0am.  There's a problem - it's rained all night, the canopy has leaked and the stage is awash.

I go and sit in the car and listen to the sound of shotgun target shooting mixed with a commentary on ferret racing.

A man with a long pole turns up and pokes the canopy and the remaining water spills out over the stall next door.

We're  supposed to start at 11.00am but it's nearer 11.30 by the time the stage and all the electrics (!) have dried out.  The sun peeks out and we make a start.

A few people wander over to see what the noise is - the ferret racing has finished - and if the 'prettiest sheep' competition finishes before we do, we might get a few more.

It's a long time since I've played at a festival.  Some things don't change - I see people trying to score immodium instants behind the chemical toilets - the smell marginally overpower by fried onions at a burger stand.

I think it'll be a long time before I play another.

Anniemay has some more blips of the event.
