Iberian Adventure Day 5

The Boy requested we go out and see some culture so we got up early and headed into Guimaraes - the birthplace of Portugal.  This bit of wall is where Portugal began apparently although we don't really understand why as it was really hot and we lost interest in listening to Ben reading to us from the leaflet from the tourist information...

Anyway, it's a pretty little town which would probably be lovely to visit on any day except the hottest day of the year they've had so far.  The tree in the square by a cross was interesting as it was at the start of our tour - its a miracle by all accounts! The walk up to the castle nearly caused a mutiny and to add insult to injury, Eldest has earache from too much swimming.

Anyway, by noon we'd been done for 5 euro by a clever beggar, bought a tasteless fridge magnet, been to (a beautifully air-conditioned Decathlon) for anti chafing jammers, shopped for lunch and were back at the farm.  The thermometer on our car has been broken for a while and seems to be reading approx 10-15C lower than the actual air temperature.  It reached 28C on our drive home...
