Powis Castle
"Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life."

A morning out at Powis castle today, the day starts warm and sunny and the forecast is good although there's a chance of showers later. As always I meet people and chat to them as I'm making my way through the gardens to get some photos, E and K1 are somewhere around and tell me they occasionally hear me chatting and laughing with other visitors. It's set in a stunning location with breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside, a classic place to visit. Yet again it's just off my beaten path so I've not been here before, a visit to stay with E is just right for a day out here. The Clive room is interesting, I was not aware of his connection with the area or the house, and there's plenty of 'exotic' Indian memorabilia to add to the richness of the interior furniture. There's also a lot of garden to visit and it's set into the side of the hillside so plenty of clambering up and down steps, so after a brief top up for lunch we're ready for a siesta back at Shrewsbury. I've brought a copy of 'How Green Was My Valley' and as the dark clouds gathered once again for the afternoon I settled down to make a start on my reading.
