ribbon candy...

...being formed by the christmas cactus

can you see it? may take a bit of imagination - but you can do it... it's just the way the blossom has curled under - when i looked at it - it's what i immediately thought of... that ribbon candy - made at christmas time... although perhaps it's available year 'round, too - i don't know...

it brings back the memory of how daddy would bring it home from work... the job he had - was one where he interacted with a lot of different vendors - at christmas time - they all bestowed on him a myriad of gifts - he'd bring them home for us all to ooh and ahh over... i think those vendors did it because they knew daddy had such a big family with all of us - it was very kind of them... so it was a special time with lots of candies and nuts and breads and fruits in the house - things we would never be able to afford on daddy's salary - never normally have in the house at all... treats we always appreciated and relished -

like ribbon candy - of course it came in many different colors - some solid, some striped - it was one of our favorites though and only 1 vendor daddy worked with showered us with this precious delight - always it made for...
