Turkey Vulture
The last day of our little road trip, and a fine day it was. Sunny skies, beautiful rolling hills along Tomales Bay, and a scattering of redwoods as we came inland. And great food, including barbecued oysters that just came out of the Bay. The turkey vulture was feasting on a delicacy that had a large spine and hip bones. They have weak feet, so he wouldn't have carried this meal around; instead they rely on their sense of smell to find the ideal dining opportunity. We saw dozens of these big birds circling and circling as we drove along.
It was good to be gone and good to be back home. I think we fell back in love with our camper and may do some more short road trips. Next up was to be Yosemite, but I think that's out for this year because of the fire.
