Yesterday

The sun shone, encouraging this Crocus cartwrightianus hybrid to open and let a pollinating insect in. This is one of only two species which keep its flowers open day and night. Lucky for me as I stole a moment in the garden before an unscheduled early start at work .... another case of someone else's sick day :(
