Took a walk at work today and literally almost tripped over this Spotted Owl that was cooling itself's off in the dirt. We both just froze for a minute (my first thought of course was that it was wounded and I would have to catch it and add it's menu to the list of animals I already feed) but as I reached for my phone to take a picture it flew up into the tree perfectly healthy. The picture doesn't do it any justice at all, but I'll be back with my better camera. Hoping it lives there and isn't just there for the University's SummerStart Program. I didn't see a book bag nearby ;-)
