Foul Anchor
A bright and breezy day, perfect summer weather. Chris, Pete and I went back to March to finish surveying the last two compartments of our railside site and then drove on pasrt Wisbech to Foul Anchor, which is the location of Cambridgeshire's only saltmarsh, located on the bank of the tidal River Nene.
When we last visited in 2012 it had been cattle grazed, and areas of short sward had supported a couple of rare plants, Slender Hare's-ear and Strawberry Clover. This year there was no sign of any grazing and much of the area is now dominated by a tall sward of Sea Couch. Unfortunately, there was no sign of either of the rare plants. Rather a disappointment.
