Minstead Church - All Saints
A day of three 'Jenkin's churches': Boldre, Minstead and Lyndhurst. Lyndhurst is an extraordinary building being sensitively reordered; it must have the world's most heritage-friendly chair store (extra)! Minstead is much more homely and quirky. It has a two tier gallery. The first floor was for the musicians, the top floor for children from the Poor School. It also still has two private pews - effectively in 'separate rooms' with outside doors and a fireplace. Another, the Manor pew is set in a much larger and open room space - there is an ancient sofa for the family! Easy chairs in church are not a new idea...
