The Bristol 2 litre engine!!!

An awesome day......so good but exhausting!!!

The train into London to meet up with former nursing friends for ‘a day out’. We had booked tickets to visit Clarence House at 2pm, so we had an hour to spare for a bite of lunch and initial catch up on the news. We meet every 3 or 4 months so plenty of chat.

Clarence House was fascinating. You are not allowed to take pictures in the garden or house, so I bought a souvenir guide which is very informative. The guided tour of the lower floor of the building took an hour and was full of stories about the royal occupants over the 200 years since it was built. Well worth a visit in you are in London in August.

We then moved on to the Royal Academy of Art for the Summer Exhibition. We spent an hour there and could have spent much longer. I saw a tv programme about the exhibition, so some of the unusual art didn’t come as a surprise!! Some I would give house room to.....but many wouldn’t find a place on our walls!!!

The blip is of a machine embroidery picture. The detail is amazing, something that was lost on many of the observers.

By the time we had finished, the feet were very tired so we headed for Waterstones, the book shop, and their restaurant on the 5th floor for tea and scones. We left at 6pm to head for our respective tube lines home. The restaurant was surprisingly packed and as we got to the exit we saw the reason why.......2 for the price of 1 cocktails!!!

Half an hour wait at Kings Cross was perfect to grab a snack and drink for the journey home.

The temperature was cooler and perfect for our day out :0)
