Temporary Cooking Area.
The builder left yesterday afternoon after doing an excellent job, to a very good standard and actually did what we asked him to do. He will return to do the dining room once the kitchen and conservatory have been completed. He will also return between bigger jobs to carry our some small jobs, putting right some things the previous builder’s botched. We now await National Grid (Cadent) who will remove the gas meter to the outside of the house and the plumber who will remove the old boiler and fit a new one. The old boiler, like the kitchen units has been in use for over thirty-five years and was second-hand when it was fitted. The tiler will tile most of the floor next week, returning to finish it once the gas meter and boiler have been moved.
The original kitchen cupboards, some thirty-five years old and chosen by someone else have been in the conservatory for almost two years. Various items such as washing machine, cooker and sink remained in the kitchen. The cooker, again belonging to someone before me, has now been disconnected and it is not going to be reconnected; my choice! The sink and draining boards I can use as well as the washing machine. The microwave and coffee machine are still in the kitchen. So to get round to today’s picture, it shows my steamer and slow cooker as well as a new item, a multi-cooker. These are in the conservatory and will be used until a new kitchen is fitted; it has not yet been purchased! It means I can cook the meals that we normally eat. A little more walking about, between the water supply and microwave in the kitchen and the conservatory, but at least that means I get my 10,000 steps a day.
The weather has changed and it has rained steadily all morning, getting heavier around lunchtime. Dougal has been out five times, or maybe six, I lost count; he is now asleep on one of the dining room chairs. Florence checked the outdoors three times before retiring to her bed. Will there be a pond at the bottom of the garden in the morning?
