Pick Up a Penguin!

Do any of you remember that 'p-p-p-p-ick up a penguin' advert back in the 70's with the strap line in the song saying.......'when you pick up a penguin, there's so much more to enjoy!'

I watched the replay on the ice rink at Dubai Mall this afternoon....and it makes for my very cute blip!

I couldn't resist blipping when I saw these little children taking their first steps out onto the ice with great trepidation, until the penguins came along and changed the whole scenario.

From their first faltering and tentative attempts to remain upright, within about ten minutes they had gained confidence and balance, and were keen to show off their skills with their new found penguin buddies to their doting parents who were sitting ringside sipping hot coffee!

What you are seeing here is the next Torville and Dean in the making!!!!!

Watch out Olympics 2020.....I think they'll be old enough by then!

This is one of three indoor ice rinks that Dubai has in shopping malls but this year they have created their first outdoor one!!! Am so intrigued as to know how that will survive the daytime temps....or keep icy enough in the warmth of the evening to be a skateable option!!!! Must make it the subject of a blip!!
