Bacca Pipes

The remains of a painted sign on the Blue Bell Hotel, in our village.
The hotel was built in the early 18th century, to serve the coaching trade, and it has never changed its name, unlike some hostelries.
The crossed pipes on the wall intrigue me. Maybe they refer to tobacco being sold there.
There's a Morris jig called "Bacca Pipes". Traditionally it is danced over 2 crossed "churchwarden" clay pipes, like those illustrated, although most use crossed sticks.
I noticed it again this morning, as I walked back from the co-op.
