Out and about
The forecast being for the hottest day of the week, we headed for Sherwood Forest today and the shade it provided. It proved to be a good decision as the temperature hit 29.5 on the car on the way home. Bailey wasn't quite as up for a walk as the rest of us and required a bit of carrying. We made it to the Major Oak and a bit of a circuit before giving in to his way of thinking. The visitor centre - which has definitely seen better days - is due to be replaced but has already closed before the new one has opened. It is a very smart new building and funded significantly by the RSPB so will be worth a future trip once they have got it opened.
Clumber Park offered more variety for Bailey and less lie downs. He enjoyed his time in the dog friendly cafe that is on a year's trial and was enlivened by frequent squirrel sightings. We sat by the side of the lake for a little while and he had his eye on a duck but was less keen on the swan that came over purposefully to hiss at him.
Home in the heat before heading out for a curry. We walked which was a little hairy on the way there with a couple of huge lorries but welcome on the way back to walk off some of our curry. A good chat once we were in and had been greeted by Bailey. A lovely day with the best of company.
