Lapwing
After leaving Mum and heading home I stopped off at the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve for a walk round the lakes. Like many other reserves around the country, this one has been developed on an old gravel pit. In fact, the reserve was the first example of a site being developed for the purpose of nature conservation, dating from the 1930s, and was the model for future sites.
Unlike previous visits, today there were numerous birds on the lake, albeit predominately Greylag Geese, but I did manage to see some other less common birds (to me at least), including this Lapwing foraging along one of the beaches.
