Blessings!

After returning home to a clearly broken washing machine (see yesterday’s blip), I spent the morning browsing the internet (John Lewis online Department store) for a new one. Having bought my present one used, and since it’s already had one repair, I decided to treat myself to a new machine this time. Having not bought a NEW washing machine since 1995, I was pleasantly surprised that they are not NECESSARILY as expensive as I’d feared (though I did find more than one priced over £2000!!  Really?)

After finding one I liked in the ‘budget range’, but with loads of glowing reviews, I decided I might as well order one ASAP. Then suddenly I had a lightbulb moment!!  I have  a fistful of John Lewis loyalty Vouchers!! (from using their credit card). They’ve been saved for a rainy day - for something I really needed or a special treat, not just at Waitrose (grocery store, part of the John Lewis chain). So today was that rainy day (metaphorically only, sad to say!). So with the extra cost of installation, removal of the old machine, but with £90 worth of vouchers to apply, I ended up spending only £205. Very happy with that!  It arrives next Friday.

Besides the vouchers the other blessing is my friend Sue, who said I’d be welcome to bring my washing over to her house. I had two loads to do to be caught up and I’ll be fine then for the rest of the week. Not only did she let me use her washing machine but she fed me as well!  We had a lovely picnic in the garden, followed by ice cream with strawberries.

What a blessed girl am I!
