Caisleán
A drizzly dull day today, but I don’t mind that at all. Like many other countries Ireland has also had a heatwave, but it seems to be over for now.
After doing a bit of shopping, we visited a museum and bookshop in Ballyferriter. I spent a small fortune on books and spoke to some of the locals. Ballyferriter is in a Gaeltacht area (Irish-speaking region) and two ladies working in the museum were happy to help me with the language.
Next up we visited this small castle ( or rather half a castle) , also in the Gaeltacht area. This is on private land and we had to pay 2 euros each to walk up to it, but the owners were very friendly and spent some time in conversation with us both before and after the short walk - in English but I learned a lot about the area and the culture.
Update: Done a bit of homework. It's called Rahinnane Castle and it was ruined by Cromwell.
