The Avenue
An after breakfast walk. These trees will be nearing 30 years old. Their predecessors all crashed down in the great storm of 1987 - I used to collect fallen conkers from them when I was a boy. It is amazing how the new trees are maturing, although suffering from the rust disease which seems to infect horse chestnuts everywhere.
After our walk to Mum and Dad’s, the lady from Herts CC (the “See and Solve” service is how it is branded) came around to do her assessment. Our aim is to ensure that Mum and Dad are on the radar and get as much help as they are eligible for. They’ve done amazingly well, but definitely need more support.
