Barbed Tongue on Blue Heron

Woke up this morning feeling a bit better, but now we are into the COUGH phase! As I was having my morning coffee, I noticed a Blue Heron fly in, so out I flew with my camera in tow.

He let me walk up fairly close and then he flew to a rooftop right near the road, so off I went to follow him. I was literally below him on the ground and he let me photograph him for a good 15 minutes. I really think this is the best photoshoot I could get...he was a perfect model. His poses made me laugh, and when I got back to my computer I was so excited to see the detail. These birds are amazing!!! Seeing the barbed tongue was a bonus:))
