Such a Present!

I know this looks just like a fancy chicken but it isn’t! It is a snow cock or bartavelle in French. What a fabulous surprise this morning, I was just about to turn around and retrace my steps when 3 of these birds must have seen me. Two flew away but this one stayed for a moment. These are very rare here, I saw a group of them in the winter and none of my naturalist contacts had seen them in the area before. Can’t wait to tell them when I have internet tonight!

One week of the exhibition over, 5 days to go, talking so much in French has exhausted me! However it is great to see old friends who turn up out of the blue like this afternoon, climbing friends from way back when: thanks for coming Martine and Larry.
