And What Is This?........

Mel wanted to know what I had on top of the bucket!
Well, when I decided to attack my Cordyline last night to pull off all the brown leaves the blackbirds nest fell our on top of my head....!!
I knew it was there as we watched the blackbirds (Mr. & Mrs.) diligently build it in the early Spring time...as you can see this tree is on my patio just outside the back door...that closeness or Mel didn’t seem to bother them and eventually we heard the tweeting of the baby birds and they both took it in turns all day for weeks to feed the babies and then I became very worried about how they were going to get the babies out..I knew they wouldn’t be able to fly, so, we watched as best we could and unfortunately the first one must have fallen out and Mel was quicker than we were....! I was mad...so we locked her inside and Mrs. Blackbird encouraged the second one out and hid it in the caging we had around our fruit bushes...my hubby opened the caging at the top and she continued to fly in and out feeding the baby for another day and when it was strong enough she took it out....Mel was almost quicker than us again but we saw her and the little one managed to flap and fly in to the garden next door! We hope it survived!
