Not so bright eyes

This little critter has been sitting on my front windowsill for the last three weeks waiting for me to take his picture. I rescued him from a cobweb in the bathroom. If you look, you will see the wisps of web on him. To me, he looks a bit like a cricket or a small grass hopper, but I really can't be sure.

I had wanted to use my extreme macro lens, a Canon MP-E 65 mm lens, which I haven't really used before. It's a long time since I had it out, so I had to remind myself how to focus with it.

I'm amazed I got anything remotely in focus with it when I took the photo. It doesn't have a focusing ring. You have to move the lens to and fro until you get the point of focus. And if you want magnification, you have to pull the lens out while you move towards the subject. A flash gun would be a very good idea.

Because I wasn't really prepared for this task, I've had to resort to a very high ISO instead of using flash. Another time perhaps.

Muggy, mostly overcast day although the sun shone bright, clear and hot around mid-day. Len, Basil and I drove to Loughborough. Len to shop sit of Aziz, while I did a bit of shopping. M&S have got GF Oaty Bread back in now, and I bought a couple of GF croissants ready for going to see Clive and Elaine tomorrow.

Len played bowls in the evening. I went to watch and bumped into Margaret whom I had known years back when we both performed with ESNA. Late dinner.
