Morning stretch

We took a tour this AM through the estuaries around St Augustine and a little bit out into the bay looking for birds and dolphins. Not a dolphin was to be found , but two manatees decided to show there flippers in one spot (not a very exciting photo). There were a lot of birds, but most were not very close as the Zodiac requested was out for repairs so we got a larger boat. Had I known we were to have the larger boat I would have brought the longer , heavier lens. Alas, I had packed the 300mm, not long enough for the spoonbills, various herons, semipalmated plovers and wood storks that were to be found along the shores. 
It was long enough and we were able to get close enough for a decent photo-ie one I could crop- of a CLAPPER RAIL. That was excitement for the AM as these elusive birds are hard to spot. Our guide knew that there was a spot near some mangroves where the young rails had been popping out. And we were lucky as this one didn't seem to notice the large object nearby. He eventually scampered into the reeds. 
Then we all had lunch , came back to our rooms and fell asleep, during which time the flag on the beach went from a warning yellow to a warning red. Therefore I am heading to the pool .That is the only disappointing thing about this week - got in the ocean between the rainstorms and red  flags exactly twice. hoping for tomorrow AM as our flight out is tomorrow night.
