Mood swings

Some days my mother is preposterously friendly and helpful. She asked a young man in Value Village if she could carry the two large speakers he was struggling with. Sure, lady! But then yesterday at Silverado when a resident looked dizzy and disoriented in the courtyard, and I took her hand to lead her to a seat, my mom looked disgusted and walked away. When I asked her to come help, she gave the woman what for!

Well, we all have our moods. Mine, in response that scene, was a bit of irritation. We both got over it, though. Later, when she said something about being old, or sick, or not sick, or something, I turned the topic to death, as I sometimes do, just to see where she stands on it. I said, "Well, whenever you die, I'll sure miss you." She said, "I miss you already."
