Hot Sauce for Hot Day

Slow-cooked tomato sauce to go with spaghetti and BBQed prawns and who knows what else will appear, for our guests in a bit... Half-past seven, and still 42C, not due to cool much either. Oh well, we're wetting the ground outside, and hoping for some breeze as the sun goes down.

Bought this cast iron pan in Fortaleza, and have probably used it most days for years, in Brazil, England, and now here. It's huge, and I love it. Youngest flying to Fortaleza on Saturday for a midwifery placement, and then on to where we used to live. First time she's gone on her own.

It's dark, because only way to keep the place bearably cool. Opening up once the sun goes. Haven't tiled the kitchen corner yet, as you can see.

Fire last night near the health centre. Probably a stray cigarette. Scary.
