The Boston Stump
Warwick backblip 5
Caravan hitched up, we said our goodbyes, left Warwick and headed for Woodhall Spa, in Lincolnshire, to visit MrM's dad. It was an easy journey until we got on to the A46 where one of the caravan tyres 'blew'. Thankfully, MrM was able to park us safely on the verge and we phoned the insurance company. A couple of hours later (not so bad waiting in the sun, eating the sandwiches we'd bought half an hour earlier), a very nice man from the rescue firm came out and changed the the wheel, and we were on our way again, resolving to have new tyres put on the caravan tomorrow, for peace of mind.
Arrived at MrM Snr's rather later than hoped, but better late than never! He mentioned going to Boston, so MrM drove us there for a wander round. St Botolph's Church, aka the Boston Stump, has one of the tallest Mediaeval towers in England, and can be seen from miles around. We walked through the park, and then enjoyed a fish supper. Afterwards, MrM Snr directed us to the memorial to the Pilgrim Fathers (extra). (We were quite amused that Mr's dad had been under the impression that an American Branch of the WI had contributed towards the cost of the memorial...) It's on the north bank of the Haven, a tidal river, and as we walked back to the car we spent a while watching a large container ship and pilot boat heading out to sea.
It was quite late by the time we got back to Woodhall Spa, after a long day. Both shattered...
