Head to the light...

...for those of you who have never been this is the stairwell to monument, a statue dedicated to the starting point of the great fire of London in 1666.

The picture was taken about 1/4 of the way up. It has a total of 311 steps heading for the tiny opening of light at the top of the very tight and twisty staircase and(if you are like me, for anyone who has been up there), massively disappointed by the view you get and the tight wire meshing that stop you from getting any decent sort of photograph.

But then what do you expect these days for £3, nice staircase though once you stop feeling dizzy.
