Regency Grandeur In a Previous Life

This is Hartpury House which no doubt was The Big House before it became the college which now uses it. There has been a building here since about 1551 but this looks like a regency, maybe John Nash designed. I can't find out much in the way of history but I liked the look of this formal garden and you can imagine how the house may have looked at that time.

It's been another enjoyable day here on Blues Week. There's been a late class for the previous two nights but not tonight. Mobbs and I decide to escape from the grond of the campus and we drove into Hartpury Village and visited the Royal Exchange where Mobbsended up instructing the bar staff on the making of a 'Manhattan', he does like his cocktails. We sat in the garden and looked out to the Malvern Hills in the distance. I adn't realise that we're in the Forest of Dean here and it's beautiful country. We slipped back for dinner and fortunately got back before anyone realised we were gone and released the bloodhounds to track us down.

Tonight it was the students turn to put on a concert and there were a lot of good performances although maybe not with the sort of pizzazz the tutors wre able to put on. The last couple of numbers were seriously good so we left on a high. Tomorrow it will be part two and  all the performances are put on by the members of the individual classes. We'll see how that goes?
