Going It, Not So Alone

Accident

A lot of pictures to choose from this Saturday, but not all for the best reasons.
I work for a liquor company handing out samples in liquor stores on Long Island, and since I had a tasting this weekend, I was taking Carl with me so he could spend the weekend with his family as well. Though we left really early, we found ourselves stuck in some SERIOUS traffic on the LIE, not half a mile from our exit. What started off as a trip with over an hour to spare, turned into me being half an hour late for my job.

This is a picture of Carl actually standing on the LIE, with no traffic behind this small clump of cars. As a native Long Islander, this was very weird for me.
I'm sorry to say that the only reason he looks so happy is because we didn't quite understand what had happened to cause such a delay. You can read the short though upsetting article at the local Patch.com page, http://huntington.patch.com/articles/huntingon-station-man-hurt-on-lie#photo-12116388.
Eventually, police turned everyone around and we drove the incorrect way on the LIE to get off at the previous exit. I have pictures of that too, it was so spooky.

Then the tasting I was half an hour late for was a big bummer anyway, because the area of West Islip the store was in was hit rather hard by Hurricane Sandy and still hadn't fully recovered, so it was a slow night.

THEN, I found out my brother's birthday party at my Aunt's house was cancelled, even though the only reason I planned on staying was to see all my family at the party.

So instead, I went into Queens to see one of my best friends at St. John's University and meet her new boyfriend, whom I have pictures of, but I'm sure I'll be able to take more of those two very soon.

What a day, man.
