Brass Knob
All went according to plan yesterday morning. The Tuttles set off early to help load the the Lourdes charter plane at Manchester airport (where else would you find a plane, Doh!). I did my usual round of gym, then work, but left at 4 straight to the boat yard. Not long after I'd landed Dad & I were off to Audlem via a quick mooring for tea (curry and a beer). Found a half decent mooring spot at the bottom of the Audlem locks (close enough to the turning point, but not too far from the pub for the old man).
Today was a case of walking around the village via a cafe, charity shop, several fields and (eventually) the Shroppy Fly. The pub that has a barge for a bar, yes, really. We were both mithering my brother to pop over for the night (three men on a boat sounds better than two men on a boat), but as he has returned from holiday yesterday, it was becoming less and less likely despite all the usual persuasions... good pub grub, good boat host, good beers, good coffee 'n' cake, good events. There is a car fest on tomorrow, which is maximised with the weekend's great barge turn-out. Boat rides on offer, as were the usual fenders, arts and crafts, jams, cheeses and free lock assistance with three volunteers on each of the four locks. Awesome atmosphere throughout. The weather was kind, despite the forecast, but tomorrow...... blurgh
