Wild Mango

So the label said..
I think I might be a bit wild if I was uprooted, cut into bits and shipped overseas too.

The pot is 3" tall and the boxes are 1 3/4" & 2" tall. The boxes are decorated inside with buttons.

When I went out to wax the boxes, I got a bit side-tracked before switching off the lathe and thought I would see if I could salvage a bit of ebony from some scrap I had used to cur plugs from.
I ended up with 3 x 1" spinning tops to go with the 2 larger ones I made the other day (again from bits of split and broken chunks ….. I bought a job lot of scrap years ago)
I also used a length of Pink Ivory that has been kicking about for years (originally bought with the intention of making chess pieces, but I can't see that happening) to make another couple of wee tops.
The larger Ebony ones are each made from 2 pieces (the 'handles' were made from smaller bits and attached).
The Oak one (which is a bit of a strange design but spins fine) is made from a piece of the offcuts from when Bags had her new handrails put in and a piece of Corian from somewhere (it is the artificial 'stone' that some kitchen worktops are made from).
So my jar of tops  is filling nicely. I will count them when it is full.

Apart from that I haven't really done anything else today other than start the job of making up the picture book of our holiday.
Now going to watch the Grand Prix and eat a nice roast pork meal.
