For the Birds
After yesterday’s struggle to get players for the Thursday game, today it was a struggle to get players for the Friday game. I had to give a lift to the last-minute fill-in. But a good game at the end of it.
Riding home on Wednesday, I had ridden through the grounds of the Great Linford Arts Centre and noticed the preparations for the “For the Birds” installation - part of MK’s International Festival. It looked intriguing so we got tickets for this evening. It was really good. A 2km night-time wander through the grounds and nearby woods following a trail of Fairy-lights with 25 art installations along the way.
There were sounds, lights, mechanical pieces... all on the theme of birds.
Spinning feathers, mechanical cuckoo machines, metal, flapping origami birds, chattering, illuminated boxes propelled along zip wires, a woman playing a cello to accompany a record player playing nightingale song, a magical tunnel made of light projected through a cloud of dry ice...
Really good.
