Peacemaker

Blessed are the peace - makers for they shall be called sons of God.

Peace - makers;
Greek word used here is , irenee, which means , setting at one, binding or putting together that which has been separated ( glue )
The Hebrew word is, shalom - symphony of life made complete in a right relationship with God. Wholeness, unity ( like an orchestra )

Peace - makers are not peace lovers or pacifists but someone who ', brings back into relationship '.
The perfect example of peace- maker is Father God and Son.

Colossians 1v19- 22
For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciled everything to Himself. He made peace with with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were His enemies, separated from Him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now He has reconciled you to Himself through the death of Christ in His physical body. As a result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault.

Who did the reconciling ( bring back into relationship ) ?
- Jesus, through His blood.

What was the state of mankind before we were reconciled?
- enmity between us and God
-alienated ( estranged )
- hostile ( hateful )
- engaged in evil acts
- broken relationship

How were reconciliation and peace made possible?
- Jesus brought me back into a right relationship with God by taking away my sin, He bridged the gap joining us together.

Romans 5v 10,11
For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of His Son while we were still His enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of His Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends with God.

Peace- maker - ' one heart ', nothing between you and the other person.
Peace - nothing in the way of your relationship with the Father ( pure in heart )

What makes someone a peace - maker?
- first having peace with God by accepting Jesus.
- following the example of Jesus who is the Prince of Peace.
- reconciling others to God by sharing the Gospel with them.

True peace is only found in a restored relationship with God. Those who bring the wonderful message of God's peace to the world are ' peacemakers ' , and Jesus calls them children of God.

Son's of God ;
Son - the one who bears the characteristics of the Father. When we imitate Jesus we shall be recognised as son's of God and enter our calling.

The blessings of sonship;
- His son's are objects of God's peculiar love ( John 1v23 ) and His fatherly care ( Luke 12v 27 - 33 )
- they have the family name (1 John 3v 1 )
- the family likeness ( Romans 8v 29 )
- family love ( John 13v 35, 1 John 3v14 )
- a filial spirit ( Romans 8v 15,16 Galatians 4v6 )
- family service ( John 14v 23 , 15v 8 )
- fatherly discipline ( Hebrews 12v 5- 11 )
- fatherly comfort ( 2 Corinthians 1v 4 )
- an inheritance ( Romans 8v 17 1 Peter 1 v 3- 5 )
