View from the minstrel's gallery

Last night I did a stand in gig with a different ceilidh band. It was in a beautifully converted barn complex at St. Helens in Lancashire.

There was morris dancing in the courtyard (the host is a member of the team).  We played for dancing in the most amazing hall which was complete with minstrel's gallery which was where we played. There was a great view of the dancing from up there.

In the break there was entertainment in the form of funny songs sung by guests.  The food was a wonderful collection where people take a dish (curry and Middle Eastern food as well as the usual buffet items) plus puddings! 

It was a brilliant and memorable evening!
