Inverness is a small Scottish city....
Population around 60 to 70,000. Yesterday a crowd of 14,000 people's marched through peacefully for Scottish Independence. There were a lot of flags, yes I know a lot of people don't like flags, but interspersed with the saltires there were European flags, a couple of England flags, I saw the rainbow flag, a German flag, catalonian flags, smiley face flags and many more. The yes bikers were on show and there was a peaceful buzz. There was the usual counter demo, around 12 to 20 people waving union Jack's and blasting rule britannia out of a loud speaker, , a strange mix of men associated with extreme right wing politics and church looking wifie's one of whom stepped out to wave her union Jack flagpole in my face whilst shouting 'you're British, you're British'. The yes bikers were allowed to circuit around the road where there counter demo was,on the opposite side of the road, and rev up and toot which diverted the attention away from the 12 twats very effectively. The speakers at the rally were from the green party and the SNP and spoke passionately about our aspirations for an independent nation based on progressive politics, civic inclusion, the environment and fairness and equality for all of our cituzens. It was a great day spent with family and friends and Sammy the dog. I will post some more pics over the next few days.
