Brockwell Park: Cloak and Dagger
More subtle a sneaker in large.
I don't really know why I'm picking this one, but I've almost blipped a moorhen several times recently, so it seemed about time... I loved its plumage and reaching wings, and the way it was surreptitiously creeping about in the contrasty dappled light..
Competition included the amusing heron up the tree, its take-off (series right from here), and it then trying to balance on a stump in the strong wind (series right from here) before flying away, a sweet big cygnet sailing and preening, a contrasty Canada goose, and some rails in dappled light.
Others are all here (or right from Moorhenling macro portrait)
