Vicarious Exertion
His Lordship and I were caught in a downpour of biblical proportions as we stepped off the bus with our shopping this morning. It was the kind of downpour that ‘stots’ off the pavement and soaks through clothes in an instant. We sheltered under an office balcony until the worst was over and then arrived home to find a surprise box of home baking on the window sill from HL’s daughter. She sheltered under our balcony during the downpour so how we missed each other is amazing.
With the sunshine returning, after lunch we had a flying visit from Shipley daughter and her new partner on their way to Glasgow for a reunion with her university pals. It was lovely to meet him, a Yorkshire man and a cyclist -a good combination by any standard. He has my seal of approval.
Now it is time to sip a spritzer, the drink of the moment in the heat, and watch the time trials of the GC in the Tour de France which confirm that Geraint Thomas will be wearing the yellow jersey into Paris. It’s all so exhausting.
