AMIDST THE PARADES AND SPEECHES
Scandal.
General David Patraeus, One of our greatest heroes
Confesses to an affair, and
Resigns in dishonor and disgrace.

TO THE FOOT SOLDIERS
During the Iraq Surge of 2007
He became a rockstar.
Signing autographs.
Posing for pictures.
Offering a hearty handshake.
Setting a new tone of optimism.
So needed by our battle weary fighters

THE REVEAL: WHY NOW?
After the election,. Close to Veterans Day.
A mere week before testifying in front of a congressional committee
Investigating the 9-11-2012 attack on the Consulate in Benghazi.
What would he have revealed about the CIA's presence there?
And our slow response time to save those being attacked?
Is he the ultimate scapegoat in a conspiracy theory?

DOES HIS AFFAIR MATTER ?
If it does, it is to shine light on sacrifices of military families.
Sacrifices that fracture exactly what war attempts to save.

So General Patraeus,
Is yet a man, after all, and not a superhero
Does he need to be?
