Compound Eye

I wish I could identify this bee... but after much searching, I'm coming up empty.

It was a little cool today, barely hitting 70F degrees and raining on and off.  Some of the insects were a little sluggish.  This bee sat still while I got right up in its face.  The bee's corporation was nice, but the wind moving the long flowers around made things difficult.  I was surprised and please to see the texture of its compound eye show up once I got the images on the computer. :)
