The Quiraing Rowan.
MGF had booked a guide again for the day and kindly invited me to chum her along. The first port of call was a quick visit to the little rowan tree at The Quiraing, after which, we moved on to the Fairy Pools (first extra); the single track road was hooching with foreigners who had no understanding of Scottish driving etiquette. The pools have their attractions and merit a return visit out of the holiday season but, there was one item of interest: a lady, rather well endowed in all the wrong places, who was determined to plummet off a cliff into a pool under a water fall. It could well have been the same lady who we caught swimming at the Secret Glen two days ago, but I'm not good at recognising faces. She went with a shriek and, apart from the enormous splash, no harm was done. I didn't see any notices forbidding “Bombing” but, then again, there was no attendant to enforce such a regulation.
It was then on, via the Limestone Garden to Elgol. Neither of these two held any great appeal for me though Elgol did sport one of the the currently fashionable pebble stacks (second extra) which had the merit of possessing it's very own teddy bear. It was while leaving here that we paused to admonish a grumpy old biddy for throwing rocks at a magnificent red deer stag minding its own business in a field. Fortunately, she didn't have sufficient range so the stag just carried on eating the grass; unfortunately, our cameras were in the car boot.
